Dr Oz: Nine Extra Nipples, One Lactates
Dr Oz is answering weird health questions, and Leah has a really strange one. Actually nine. Leah has nine nipples, while most people just have two. This is a lot more common that you think, about 6% of people have at least one extra nipple.
The weird thing here is that one of Leah’s extra nipples, located in her armpit, actually lactates. When she was breastfeeding her child, she made a video and showed that a significant amount of fluid comes out of this nipple. She said that no one in her family has this issue, but Dr Oz said it can sometimes be genetic.
Dr Oz said that these nipples are in a pattern on Leah’s body. They pretty much line up down her body and are connected by milk lines. These are present in all mammals and can take on the appearance of a mole. When you go through puberty, these spots have the potential to take on tissue, just like a breast. That’s why you might be able to lactate out of an extra nipple. These spots has the potential for the same problems that breasts do, including breast cancer.
These aren’t usually a problem, but you should just make your doctor aware and check them from time to time. It never hurts to be cautious!
Dr Oz: Dad Tries to Wax Back, Managing Waxing Pain
Dr Oz talked to Jim, who has a problem with back hair. The thinner the hair on head gets, the thicker it is on his back. He and his wife decided to wax his back, which he’s been shaving for years. They recorded the video for Dr Oz, and it was hilarious. Jim was “screaming like a little girl,” his wife said. She worries that it wasn’t supposed to be that painful.
Jim’s kids admitted that he is really hairy, so Dr Oz had some tips. He said the first thing to do about the waxing pain is 400 mg of ibuprofen. Next, arnica gel. Once his family is done waxing, Jim should rub it down with soothing arnica gel.
