Dr Oz: 3 Ways to Get a Better Sleep
Dr Oz has been trying to help his viewers get a better night’s sleep. Especially since a lot of health problems can be solved with rest! Here are his three tips on getting a better sleep:
1. Go to bed at the same time every night. Your body will get used to this and form a routine.
2. Skip the caffeine after 2 p.m.
3. Eliminate alcohol three hours before sleep. Drinking with dinner is fine, as long as you give your body time to get it through before hitting the hay.
Other things that can help are keeping your room dark, sleeping with the television off and getting the pets out of your bed. Using a fan or white noise machine might also help!
Dr Michael Breus Sleep Solutions: Worry Journal Sleep Remedy
A sleep expert that Dr Oz trusts, Dr Michael Breus has sleep solutions that can help you ready yourself for bed.
The Worry Journal is something you can use to release your brain and get those pesky last minute nags out before resting. Every night before bed, write down your worries and thoughts that are nagging you awake. After they are on the paper, you can’t think about them anymore. Feel free to write down your solutions to the issues as well.
In the morning, you can take your list and work on the problems.
Dr Oz: Bed Yoga Exercises
Dr Breus and Dr Oz also like bed yoga as a way to get yourself ready for sleep. Taking a few minutes before bed to do these moves, you can make yourself more comfortable before going to sleep. Here are the moves you can try:
Bed Yoga: The Twist
In bed, put your feet right in front of you. Cross your legs outstretched or underneath you. Reach out your right arm to the left side and twist your body. When you feel tension, breath in and out to a count of three.
Bed Yoga: Figure 4 Stretch
The Figure 4 Stretch is good for lower back pain. Cross your right leg at the knee, so it forms a 4. Grab the back of your left thigh and lift your leg toward you. Breathe in and out slowly, you should feel a stretch in your glutes and release in lower back tension.
