Dr Oz Shopping Tips: Big Box Store Brands
Buying in bulk has saved families on parties and everyday essentials. Stores like Costco and Sam’s Club are sometimes more popular than regular grocery stores or Walmart. Dr Oz said that you can save about $600 a year by shopping at a warehouse store. You have to pay a membership, but Lisa Lee Freeman showed us how worth it that fee is.
Big Box Store Brands Discounts
Freeman’s first tip was to buy store brand items at the big box stores. Buying the Sam’s Club, Costco or BJ’s brand can save you 25% more compared to competing brand names.
It’s also better to buy items that aren’t going to go bad too quickly. Toilet paper and frozen meals are going to be a better buy in the end versus fruits and vegetables. I like that Sam’s Club will often sell a prepared dinner that’s not frozen, but you can take home and freeze. Their chicken alfredo and a baguette is just too good!
Buying Big Box Multivitamins Vs Pharmacy Costs
Lisa Lee Freeman’s second tip was to go with buying bulk multivitamins. She said they have a longer shelf life and you can get 400-count bottles for $36, which means you’re set for the year!
When you have to buy the more expensive pills, like allergy medicines, the savings really add up! Target asks over $20 for a month of Zyrtec, where as I imagine you can get several months for less at a Costco.
Dr Oz: Is Warehouse Brand Organic Chicken Breast Cheaper?
Lisa Lee found that you can eat organic affordably when shopping in bulk. If you buy the bulk package and freeze the leftover, you can keep it frozen and safe to eat for up to a year. You can save about $400 a year and not have to deal with the pesticides or hormones.
Dr Oz: Big Box Eye Exam Discounts
The last tip Dr Lisa had was getting an eye exam at a big box store. Costco and Sam’s Club were her recommended brands. A full eye exam can cost about $50 at these stores. You can save $50 a year on the specs and $150 a year on bulk contacts.
