Dr Ramani Durvasula said that your hunger type depends on three things: where, how, and why you eat. She said she lost 85 pounds after figuring out her hunger type.
Dr Oz Hunger Type Quiz: Sensory Hunger
Is you are influenced by the sights, smells, and sounds of food, you might be a sensory eater. Dr Oz had an audience member blindfolded and they smelled one food and heard a person eat potato chips. The person then removed the blindfold and watched Dr Ramani pour chocolate sauce over food.
The audience member said she was hungry now, even though she wasn’t before coming on stage. Classic sensory hunger type.
Dr Oz Hunger Type Quiz: Emotional Hunger
An emotional eater is the most common hunger type. This is the person that eats because they feel, not because of hunger. Dr Oz said that when you eat for instant gratification or because of an emotion, you aren’t eating because your body needs food.
This can also extend to shopping and drinking, not because you need it but because it makes you feel emotionally better.
Dr Oz Hunger Type Quiz: Habitual Eater
A habitual eater uses a clock to keep on track. They eat at the same time everyday, not because they are hungry but because they are programmed to. Each meal is structured out. This pattern is common in older adults. The only way to beat this type of hunger is to not look at the clock.
