Dr Oz: Hunger Type Solutions
Dr Oz and his guest Dr Ramani Durvasula are discussing the types of hunger that people have. If you know your hunger type, let’s dive into ways to avoid eating when you aren’t hungry.
Dr Oz: Grapefruit Oil Helps Sensory Hunger
Research shows that smelling grapefruit oil before a big food event, like a buffet, party, or food court, can help you avoid overdoing it on the food.
Emotional Eating Solution: Rooibos Tea
An emotional eater, you may remember, is satisfied by food as an escape from emotions. Dr Ramani said that Rooibos Tea is warm and sweet, which can satisfy your hunger. It’s good because it contains antioxidants, so it’s will do a double duty for you.
They also recommended Satiereal Saffron Extract, which often results in weight loss thanks to reducing snacking and improving your mood.
Habitual Hunger Solution: Stop Looking At the Clock
For a habitual eater, who has to eat at the right time everyday, you need to go on what they called a Clock Fast. You stop looking at the clock for one week and eat when you are hungry. Another idea is that you choose activities that don’t include food. Try low-cal snacks if you find that you do have to snack.
Dr Oz: When Are You Hungry?
If you really can’t tell when you are hungry, Dr Oz has an easy acronym to know if you are hungry:
- S: Are you struggling to concentrate?
- I: Are you irritable?
- T: Experiencing tummy issues?
Another test is the Apple test. Ask yourself when you think you’re hungry, “Would an apple satisfy my need to eat something right now?” If yes, that you can eat! If no, then you are having a craving.
Dr Oz said his family tried the apple test over the weekend and found that it worked! A lot of the time they were just craving unhealthy treats.
Try the apple test this weekend! Let me know if it works for you!
