Netflix: Hidden Treasure of Instant Streaming
While the most buzzed about show on Netflix is Arrested Development, there are so many hidden treasures available for streaming.
Safety Not Guaranteed Starring Aubrey Plaza & Jake Johnson
Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) and Jake Johnson (New Girl) star as journalists going after a story they find in the classified ads.
“Wanted: Someone to go back in time with me. This is not a joke. You’ll get paid after we get back. Must bring your own weapons. I have only done this once before. Safety Not Guaranteed.”
LOL Starring Miley Cyrus & Demi Moore
Starring Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore, this film is one for sick days. Cyrus plays a teen who’s life is dictated by social media, text messaging and figuring out love. It’s a fluff indie film that is better than you might think.
Bully Documentary Must-See
For those that enjoy documentaries, the most notable doc of the last year was Bully, the story of a young boy that was mercilessly bullied at school. It’s said to be the documentary you must see.
The Hunger Games Starring Jennifer Lawrence & Josh Hutcherson
“May the odds be ever in your favor!”
I’m shocked that Netflix put this gem up for streaming! The magnificent Jennifer Lawrence and the hotty mchot Josh Hutcherson play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the star crossed lovers from District 12. They are thrust into the Hunger Games, an annual duel to the death for teens.
Sahara Starring Matthew McConaughy & Penelope Cruz
Wilfred Starring Elijah Wood
If it’s a raunchy half-hour comedy you seek, look no further. Wilfred is based on the Australian series about a guy who can talk to his dog. His dog is just a guy in a dog costume, but everyone else sees Wilfred as a dog. Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings) plays the neurotic neighbor that sees Wilfred as a guy in a dog suit. Natural dog behavior ensues, especially a hilarious pilot episode about pooping in a guy’s boots.
The Inbetweeners: Raunchy British Comedy Gold
If you’re into raunchy British comedy, might I suggest this fine creation. The Inbetweeners is a gem. America and MTV attempted to make a version for today’s teen scene, but I boycotted because the original is so brilliant. Warning: this is extremely raunchy. It’s a look inside the minds of teenage boys, full of raging hormones. They get awkward, they get into trouble and they pretend they are going to get laid.
Bachelorette Starring Rebel Wilson & Kirsten Dunst
This film starring Kirsten Dunst and Rebel Wilson was a limited release in the theaters, but it is pretty funny. Think about Bridesmaids meets drugs and Pitch Perfect. Oh, and Janis Ian from Mean Girls and Ben Wyatt from Parks and Recreation have a fling.
Wild Target Starring Emily Blunt & Bill Nighy
Another British jewel in the Netflix box, Wild Target stars Emily Blunt, Rupert Grint and Bill Nighy. Nighy is an assassin that is charged with killing Blunt. Grint comes in as a homeless man that aids in Nighy’s profession. It would be a good choice for a Saturday night date night flick.
